VACANCY NOTICE

JOB
TITLE:    Marine
Protected Areas (MPA) Manager

Applications are invited
from suitably qualified persons to fill the abovementioned position at
the Fisheries
Division, Ministry of Agriculture, Lands, Forestry, Fisheries & the
Environment.
(This is a contract position for one year in the first instance)

CORE
FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the direction of
the MPA Management Committee through the Fisheries Division, the MPA Manager
will be responsible for the day to day management, administration and
operations of the MPA site level work program and to co-ordinate and
implement
all its activities.

More specifically, the
Manager will be required to:

1.      Supervise
and manage the activities of all MPA Rangers assigned to Marine Protected
Areas.
2.      Assist
in the coordination and the implementation of the MPA work programme as
directed by the Fisheries Division.
3.      Work
closely with the National MPA Coordinator in the establishment of new Marine
Protected Areas, and in implementing new and ongoing MPA related projects.
4.      Prepare
all related monthly work programs and reports relating to established MPA?s.
5.      In
collaboration with the National MPA Coordinator, prepare project
proposals for
funding opportunities.
6.      Assist
with MPAS public education and MPA awareness activities.
7.      Assist
with preparation of special reports as may be assigned by the Fisheries
Division.
8.      Assist
with all monitoring and evaluation programs in established MPA?s including
biophysical and socioeconomic monitoring.
9.      Co-ordinate
logistics for MPA activities.
10.  Liaise
with MPA stakeholders to address MPA issues and concerns that may arise.
11.  Networking
with MPA stakeholders and partners
12.  Assist
with the institutional advancement of MPAs
13.  Perform
any other duties/tasks assigned by the Chief Fisheries Officer.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

I.            A
Bachelor?s   degree from a recognized
university with acceptable specialization in Environmental Management,
Natural
Resource Management, Marine Science or Management or related field.
II.            Be
a certified SCUBA Diver with seagoing experience or willing to be trained.
III.             Experience in the area of office management
including: human resource management, financial management and reporting;
IV.            Ability
to work with community groups and experience in maintaining effective
community
networks and partnerships and the ability to resolve conflicts between
stakeholders;
V.            Strong
writing, oral and other communication skills;
VI.            Computer
skills including networking;

SALARY
Salary will be commensurate with experience and
qualifications.

DUTY
STATION:  MPA Office at Grand Mal, St. George?s
