Job Title Marine Science Educator and Site Manager, Sundial Campus

*BASIC SUMMARY*

Working with the Director of Education and the Executive Director, the
Sundial Campus Site Manager, is responsible for the operation, supervision
and management of the Sundial Beach Resort campus of Sanibel Sea School.
This includes assuring the maintenance of facilities, the educational
integrity, communications channels, and staff relations for the site.

*PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and
level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this
classification. They are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all
responsibilities, duties, and skills required of personnel so classified.

?       Overall management of the Sundial location including building and
maintaining internal relations with Sundial Beach Resort management

?       Maintain institutional records and documents; ensure compliance
with federal, state and local regulations, as required

?       Maintain a high standard of quality and excellence when teaching
field programs

?       Create course calendars, manage schedules for program classes and
private sessions

?       Maintain attendance database for Sundial location

?       Manage retail at the Sundial location, including routine inventory
reporting

?       Ensure the maintenance and upkeep of facilities and equipment

?       Foster an appreciation for marine ecosystems and encourage students
to practice good ocean stewardship, leading by example

?       Maintain a working knowledge of marine and local biota as well as
significant developments and trends in marine science, coastal ecology, and
marine conservation, especially related to Southwest Florida

?       Provide support for Sanibel Sea School projects as needed

*QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED*

?      A baccalaureate degree with a major, or significant coursework in
Early Childhood Education, Elementary/ Secondary Education, Environmental
Education, Biology, Marine Biology, or a similar field

?      Experience working with children

?      Certifications (or capable of obtaining certifications) in CPR,
First Aid, and Lifeguarding

?      Strong and competent swimmer, comfortable in outdoor settings and
physically capable of leading groups of children in a variety of natural
environments

?      Desire to promote marine conservation by sharing a passion and
knowledge of the natural world with students

*WORK ENVIRONMENT*

?      The performance of this position primarily occurs in an outdoor
subtropical setting with some indoor classroom-based work

*PHYSICAL DEMANDS*

?      Ability to sit or stand for long periods as required, may require
walking for significant distances throughout the day

?      Reaching above shoulder height, below the waist or lifting up to
forty (40) pounds as required throughout the work day, proper lifting
techniques required

?      Ability to work in the sub-tropical conditions of SW Florida
