_Position Title:_ Coral Reef Monitoring Biologist

_Location:_  Office of the Governor, Bureau of Environmental and Coastal
Quality, Division of Coastal Resources Management (DCRM), Saipan,
Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas Islands (CNMI), USA

_Salary: _$24,000 – $28,000 annually, plus benefits

_Closing Date:_ December 29th, 2014

_Position Overview: _The CNMI Bureau of Environmental and Coastal
Quality’s Division of Coastal Resources Management has a mandate to
promote the conservation and wise development of the coastal resources
of the CNMI. DCRM is currently seeking to hire a full-time coral reef
biologist to work within the long-term marine monitoring program and
provide support for projects pertaining or related to coral reef and
marine monitoring activities.

_Duties and Responsibilities:_

* ? Assist with all aspects of in-water ecological surveys, including
planning and logistics, gear preparation, and data collection
* ? Data entry, management, analysis, and QA/QC
* ? Assist in the writing and preparation of reports, scientific
manuscripts, and grant proposals
* ? Assist with boat and gear maintenance
* ? Participate in public education and outreach activities
* ? Perform other related duties as assigned, including, but not
limited to, permit review, site damage assessment, permit site
inspection, or research to address management issues

_Minimum Qualifications:_

* ?Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in marine biology,
environmental science, natural resource management, or related
field, plus one year of professional experience
* ? SCUBA certification level equivalent to PADI Open Water, plus 50
logged dives
* ? Excellent verbal and written communications skills in English
* ? Must be comfortable on boats and in open water, even in adverse
conditions

_Preferred Qualifications:_

* ? Master’s Degree in marine biology, environmental science, natural
resource management, or related field
* ? SCUBA certification level equivalent to PADI Rescue Diver
* ? Experience studying and/or working on coral reefs and related
ecosystems, preferably in the western Pacific region
* ? Familiarity with taxonomy of western Pacific coral reef organisms,
particularly scleractinian corals
* ? Experience with database management
* ? Experience with ecological statistics
